Stacey
Welcome everybody to the senior pet podcast teaser episode. My name is Dr Stacy Bone, and I’m a small animal veterinarian.
Ron
and I’m Ron DeVries, a senior animal health insider.
Stacey
And I think by senior you mean you’ve been in the industry awhile, couple weeks, couple weeks. What we wanted to do today was kind of sit down and give everybody a little bit better idea of what the senior pep podcast is gonna be about. But before we do that, I think it’s important, Ron, maybe to tell everybody where we’re coming from.
Ron
Yeah, absolutely. Stacy and I think I haven’t known each other for the better part of a decade. One of the things that’s nearest and dearest to our hearts is the last year we’ve each had our senior dogs pass away, and I haven’t watched each other go through that. We probably have a unique appreciation for one.
Stacey
Right And I think that’s an important thing, because really, you don’t know what it’s like. Toe have a senior pet until you’ve had a senior pet in A. I know that’s probably the first of the many dumb things I’ll say throughout the course of this podcast, but it does make a lot of sense because we change our routines and our habits for our senior pets. And secondly, as we kind of went through this process and looked around for information, we realized that one. There’s a lot of wrong information out there, and two, there’s not a lot that’s specific to senior pet health itself. So we wanted to kind of create a space for everybody to to listen and learn. And so with that being said, the the episodes themselves will be composed of a couple of different things that first is gonna be that we’re gonna talk about what it’s like to be a senior pet. What happens as we age and secondly will dive into diseases and hopefully in a clear, concise and hopefully somewhat entertaining way, we’re gonna kind of discuss what it’s like to have a pet with these diseases what the symptoms are, How we diagnose them is veterinarians. And then, ultimately, how we treat them.
Ron
One of the diseases we won’t be touching on his old age because, as our motto is, old age is NOT A DISEASE
Stacey
It is absolutely, and you’re gonna hear us repeat that over and over and over again. Old age is absolutely not a disease.
Ron
One of the other topics we’re going to touch on is what we call hot spots. And that’s simply some some issues that need to be touched on in the senior pet podcast like What’s new in the world of animal health. What are some of the things as the senior senior pet podcaster, what are some of the things that are irritating me? And what are some of the hot spots in the world of social media?
Stacey
Absolutely. And so with that being said, you can find us at all your local social media platforms. You can also email us at the senior pet podcast at gmail dot com, and our first episode True Episode is going to kick off after the first of the years of 2020 which is right around the corner on that we hope to come at you about everyone. Two weeks. Ron sounds good. Yeah, we’ll be here about every two weeks, and we’ll kind of discuss everything. Senior pets. And hopefully you guys will stay with us and join us. And we look forward to talking with you all again soon.
